Founder and Executive Producer
Jo Austin received her first Producer credit in 2003, originally working mainly in the factual TV genre in London. Key productions include Long Way Round with Ewan McGregor of which she plotted and oversaw the ground-breaking expedition through production - leading to work on many more similar formats as a result: Into the Wild with Freddie Flintoff, By Any Means (two seasons) with Charley Boorman and Extreme Fishing with Robson Green. Jo has since developed, produced and directed two multi-episode series for Nat Geo, which have screened globally and are now airing on Netflix and Amazon Prime.
Throughout her career Jo has worked with and for brands, so has a solid understanding of objectives from both sides. This led to the formation of Candid Films in 2011, which was created to provide honest, fair production services to commercial clients and allow her to develop new projects creatively with brands in mind.
Jo has developed strong business acumen in addition to an extremely broad knowledge of production operations across many different platforms and genres, gathering a wealth of contacts and connections along the way. Jo has mentored a number of young Directors and Producers, and continues to contribute to the industry through her affiliations with SPAA, AACTA and WIFT.
